moreover · furthermore · in addition (to this) · also · besides

The hotel is cheap. Moreover, it's right next to the beach.

Contraste: oponer ideas

ConectorVa conEjemplo
howeverfrase independienteI love the city. However, it's very noisy.
although / even though+ sujeto + verboAlthough it was raining, we went for a walk.
despite / in spite of+ nombre / -ingDespite the rain, we went for a walk.
on the other handfrase independienteOn the other hand, it's quite expensive.
whereas / while+ sujeto + verboShe loves sports, whereas he prefers reading.

Error muy frecuente: usar "despite" seguido de una frase completa ("despite it was raining") — despite/in spite of solo van con nombre o gerundio, nunca con sujeto + verbo conjugado.

Causa y efecto

ConectorFunciónEjemplo
because / since / ascausaWe stayed in because it was raining.
therefore / as a resultconsecuenciaThe flight was delayed. As a result, we missed the connection.
consequentlyconsecuencia (más formal)She hadn't studied. Consequently, she failed.
due to / owing tocausa + nombreThe match was cancelled due to bad weather.

Ejemplificación

for example / for instance · such as · namely (es decir, concretamente)

Some activities, such as hiking and cycling, are very popular here.

Conclusión

in conclusion · to sum up · overall · all in all

Overall, the course exceeded my expectations.
